When you have a mind that doesn't rest

When you have a mind that doesn't rest, it can be both a blessing and a curse. This is something that I have been experiencing since I was a pre-teen, and it has only become more concentrated since its beginning. In this state of recognition, I've discovered the pros and cons of a mind that doesn't rest. Most importantly, I have explored activities that have eased the downfalls and frustrations associated with this state. It is so important to be open and honest with your feelings and attributes that make you, YOU! Only with self understanding, can you achieve self appreciation!

Cons
You can never relax
The schedule for today is clear, but somehow you can't find a moment to let your mind relax. You don't have anything you need to do, but you have a million and one things you could do. So as you're trying to snuggle in to read a good book or watch a show, you feel as though you could be so much more productive. The truth is, you feel guilty for taking time to nurse your health.

You overthink everything
As your driving home, you are replaying every conversation you have had since you woke up at 8am this morning and kicking yourself for what you said, and thinking of 100+ better responses. We have all been there at some time or another, but for some of us this is an everyday occurrence. It takes a huge mental toll on you and by the time you are alone, you become exhausted. Not to be cliche, but us over-thinkers can build mountains out of mole hills.

Pros
No stone is left unturned
As an over-thinker, you have probably already mentally prepared yourself for any situation that is to come your way.  Whether is is the good or the ugly, you have your big-girl panties on and you ready to show off your readiness with your reactions.

Most mornings you feel like you can conquer the world
Mornings are often the best time of day for over-thinkers. The start of a new day is a clean slate, when you have all of your ducks in a row and you are ready to make the most of anything that comes your way. This is truly when you are happiest and your worries from the previous day have seemed to miraculously disappear. Why can't we be like this all day?

There are highs and lows to having a mind swimming with thoughts. It can become increasingly frustrating when we are experiencing those lows, and everyone around us seems to be care-free. This is the perfect time to take a step back, take a deep breath, and thank the universe for making you so extraordinary. You have been gifted with more thoughts in just one week than most will have in a lifetime! You look at things from a new perspective and have so many great ideas unique to your beautiful mind! Through my personal experiences, I have discovered that I would not want to be any other way.

It wasn't until recently that I became deeply aware of my anxiety, which was at the root of my racing mind. Amidst this time, I learned that I was depriving my myself of activities that make me feel mentally healthy.
Mental health is not yet socially recognized as significant as physical health, and that truly is a shame. One must practice mental stability as religiously as they do their physical health.
There are resources readily available for those who need a aid with their mental health. Mental health is just as important as physical health, and it is very important that you nourish your mind, just as you would your body.
If you are struggling with your own mental health, please take the time to peek at these resources..
